Karen Woodward
Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, I've lived in Los Angeles since 1994. A communications major at University of Colorado, Boulder, I headed to LA soon after graduating, determined to find a career in the entertainment industry. I spent years working in management, production, marketing and promotions…before suffering a quarterlife crisis and going to graduate school at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School.
My first piece was published on the Wall Street Journal’s career site (CareerJournal.com), and my writing career took off from there. I’m a contributor to Cynopsis Weekender, a weekly addendum to the popular Cynopsis daily television newsletter; the television columnist for Suite101.com; a technical and marketing writer focusing on mobile devices and telephony; and a copywriter for entertainment companies such as MTV. For almost two years I was the managing editor for Hollywood Momentum.com, a popular website for Hollywood assistants, before starting my own entertainment industry website, IndustryNexus.com.
